Where Hamamatsu's Story Began.
1. The Place of Beginnings: Zudaji Temple
Zudaji Temple is the "Place of Beginnings" in Hamamatsu's story of rise and renewal.
It is said that, in his youth, Toyotomi Hideyoshi first entered the service of a samurai family in this area, taking the first step on the path that would eventually lead him to become Japan's supreme ruler.
It is also believed that Ii Naomasa, who would later become one of Tokugawa Ieyasu's famed Four Heavenly Kings, set out from this place to serve Ieyasu at Hamamatsu Castle, beginning his own journey toward success and distinction.
In other words, Zudaji Temple was not a place visited by those who had already achieved greatness.
It was a place where young people, still unknown to the world, took their very first steps toward the future.

3. Motoshiro Tōshōgū: The Site Associated with Hikuma Castle
Motoshiro Tōshōgū stands on the site of Hikuma Castle, the predecessor of Hamamatsu Castle, and is a place closely associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu.
At this site stand statues of two of Japan's great rulers: Tokugawa Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
Ieyasu overcame many trials in Hamamatsu and laid the foundation for his path to becoming Japan's supreme ruler. Hideyoshi, too, had connections with Hamamatsu in his youth before eventually rising to become one of Japan's great leaders.
Motoshiro Tōshōgū, where the legacies of these two great rulers intersect, symbolizes Hamamatsu's story of rise and renewal.

5.浜松八幡宮
浜松八幡宮には、家康公が危機を切り抜けたという伝承が残されています。
苦しい時、迷う時、人は何かに守られながら道を進んでいきます。
ここは、危機を越え、もう一度前へ進む力を感じる場所です。
雲立の楠
元亀3年（1572年）、三方ヶ原の戦いにおいて武田信玄率いる武田軍に敗れた徳川家康は、追手を逃れてこの楠の洞穴に身を潜めたと伝えられています。
家康が戦勝と無事を祈願すると、楠の上に瑞雲（ずいうん）が立ち昇ったことから、武田軍は追撃をためらい、家康は難を逃れて無事に浜松城へ帰還することができたといわれています。

私の両親は、浜松の八幡宮で結婚式を挙げました。
そして、私が生まれ名前は五社神社で授けられたそうです。
つまり浜松は、徳川家康公の出世再起の地であると同時に、
私自身の家族の始まり、そして自分の人生の始まりにも深く関わる場所でした。
